Position Summary

A Union Soccer Schools Support Specialist is responsible for the supervision of campers and Team members within their Division.  They assist in monitoring the organization, supervision, implementation and administration of all activities and schedules.

Position Objective/Purpose

We are seeking motivated team members who believe deeply in the organization’s mission and who display a record of achievement in effective supervision & management of Team members and campers.  The candidate must be capable of building positive relationships, providing top-notch customer service and ensuring the safety and well-being of people of all ages.  This position will require the candidate to complete multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the professional standards of Union Soccer Schools and ESF.

Position Scope Factors

Union Soccer Schools Support Specialists are hired in the following age groups;

 

La Liga: 1st & 2nd grade

Serie A: 3rd & 4th grades

Premier: 5th & 6th grades

First Team: 7th + grades

 

Travel required each week.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  1. Within their assigned Division (La Liga, Serie A, Premier, First Team), assist the Division Specialist in delivering the Union Daily/Weekly Schedule; including all safety and security policies and camp traditions outlined in trainings and the ESF Components Book
  2. Meet with the Division Specialist and assist in the planning, preparation, organization and facilitation of daily soccer skill instruction within their assigned Division.
  3. Through a hands on approach, instruct and mentor Team Coaches assigned within their Division
  4. By utilizing the Union Curriculum, prepare, organize and facilitate daily soccer skill instruction within their assigned Division
  5. Assign and prepare Team Coaches to instructional stations during skill development
  6. Serve as a positive role model to campers and Team Coaches
  7. Assist and support the Field Manager in any camp operation or activity
  8. Model behavior & group management strategies for Team Coaches
  9. Conduct tours of the camp facilities and program areas to prospective camp families when applicable
  10. Oversee sign-in and sign out of all campers
  11. Record and maintain a log of all daily activities and observations
  12. Monitor the organization, supervision, and administration of all field trips
  13. Group supervision of campers with attention to: behavior and group management, health and safety, security, and personal and skill development
  14. Provide input and assist in conducting mid and end of summer evaluations
  15. Follow the ESF Code and maintain the Union Look at all times
  16. Exhibit ESF Core Values at all times and to adhere to all company policies

Experience Requirements

  1. Previous experience working with children in a supervisory or administrative capacity
  2. Performance management and facilitation experience (preferred)
  3. Professional (MLS affiliate, WPS affiliate or USL Pro Leagues), collegiate or high school baseball coaching experience (preferred)
  4. Former soccer playing experience (required)
    1. Professional soccer player (MLS affiliate, WPS affiliate or USL Pro Leagues)
    2. Collegiate player (Division I)
    3. Varsity High School player
  5. 1 – 3 years administrative/leadership experience (required)
  6. Staff supervision experience (required)
  7. Youth coaching experience (required)

Certification Requirements

  1. First Aid/CPR (preferred)
  2. Coaching certification (preferred)

Education Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree

Other Skill Requirements

  1. Outstanding communication skills which include the ability to use clear, concise and grammatically correct written and oral language in all aspects of professional interaction with campers, their families, peers, leadership team and the larger community

Reporting Relationships

  1. Reports directly to and takes direction from the USS Division Specialist. May also take direction from and is overall accountable to the Field Manager and Operations Manager.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of 35lbs
  2. Endurance to work outside and on your feet for 6-8 hours per day
  3. Ability to respond to emergency situations which may require running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and climbing stairs.
  4. Good physical condition which enables candidate to execute all responsibilities associated with this position
