Position Summary

A Zumba® Fitness & Zumba® Kids Instructor is responsible for the implementation of Zumba® Fitness and Zumba® Kids curriculum, the supervision of campers, promoting and actively participating in all camp activities, providing a safe and fun learning environment, and serving as a positive role model for campers and counselors.

Position Objective/Purpose

We are seeking motivated team members who believe deeply in the organization’s mission and who display a record of achievement in effective supervision & management of youth, building positive relationships and ensuring the safety and well-being of people of all ages.

Position Scope Factors

Zumba® Fitness and Zumba® Kids Instructors are employed in the following camps;

  • Day Camp: 4 – 8 year olds
  • Senior Camp: 9 – 15 year olds

Essential Job Responsibilities

  1. Group supervision of campers with attention to: behavior and group management, health and safety, security, and personal and skill development
  2. Organize and prepare daily lesson plans in a fun and creative manner
  3. Adhere to the standards outlined in Zumba® Fitness and Zumba® Kids certification sessions
  4. Motivate campers by creating fun for them in your activity (i.e. - songs, games, cheers, etc.)
  5. Encourage creativity and critical thinking while making a positive impact on each of your campers
  6. Use effective classroom management skills to lead the activity and effectively create an inclusive, fun environment
  7. Promote and actively participate in all camper activities
  8. Serve as a positive role model to campers
  9. Follow the ESF Code and maintain the ESF Look at all times
  10. Employee is expected to exhibit ESF Core Values at all times and to adhere to all company policies
  11. Assist with carline in the mornings and afternoons
  12. Have fun

Experience Requirements

  1. Minimum of one year of teaching Zumba® Fitness
  2. Previous dance and/or fitness instructor experience
  3. Previous experience working with children, examples include but are not limited to; babysitting, academic/athletic tutoring, camp counselor, youth volunteer, classroom assistant, religious education teacher

Certification Requirements

  1. Zumba® Fitness Basic 1 certification (required)
  2. Zumba® Kids & Zumba® Kids Jr. certification (required, or willing to become certified upon employment)

Education Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree (preferred)

Other Skill Requirements

  1. Outstanding communication skills which include the ability to use clear, concise and grammatically correct written and oral language in all aspects of professional interaction with campers, their families, peers, leadership team and the larger community

Reporting Relationships

  1. Reports directly to and takes direction from Activity Specialist Director or Senior Camp Director. May also take direction from and is overall accountable to the Site Director.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of 35Ibs
  1. Endurance to work outside and on your feet for 6-8 hours per day
  2. Ability to respond to emergency situations which may require running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and climbing stairs.
  3. Good physical condition which enables candidate to execute all responsibilities associated with this position
