Position Summary

Robotics Technology Specialist/Teachers are responsible for immersing campers in our exciting technology curriculum while guiding campers through the creative/design thinking process. In addition to constantly supervising campers, Technology Specialists/Teachers promote and actively participate in all camp activities, may lead recreational periods outside of class, provide a safe and fun learning environment, and serve as a positive role models for campers and counselors.

Program Description(s):

  • Jr. Robotics: Level 1 (Gr. 2-4) - Turn camp into a robot laboratory and explore the exciting world of Robotics! Learn how to design and build a robot using LEGO® WeDo. Make your robot come to life, as you learn how to program it to perform project-oriented tasks and challenges. This  camp is designed for campers who have a keen interest in robots. No  prior experience with LEGO® WeDo necessary. All skill levels welcome.
  • Jr. Robotics: Level 2 (Gr. 2-4) - This camp is designed as a secondary program for campers who have already taken “Junior Robotics, Level 1”. With a focus on basic programming and more intricate engineering skills, campers will dive deeper into the world of Robotics as they work with a team to design bigger and even more imaginative, complex robots.
  • Tech Adventures: Super Hero Tech and Robot Challenge (Gr. 1-3) - In Super Hero Tech Camp, campers will explore the use of technology and science as it relates to the production of super hero-like powers. During the Robot Challenge, campers will be provided with an introduction to robotics and will learn how to pre-program, code and operate a robot through a variety of tasks.
  • Robotics 101: Level 1 (Gr. 4-9) Explore the exciting world of Robotics! Learn how to design and build a robot using LEGO® MINDSTORMS®. Program your robot to perform project oriented tasks and challenges. For novices, start with the basics of construction and programming. For the more experienced, develop sophisticated programming and engineering skills. No prior experience with Lego Mindstorms necessary and all skill levels welcome.
  • Robotics Level 2 (Intermediate & Advanced) (Gr. 4-9) -In Robotics Level 2, campers will work on more complex robot tasks and refine their engineering and programming skills.  Daily  challenges will focus campers to build projects that will compete against other camper projects. Campers are expect to work in small teams to complete projects. Previous experience working with LEGO MINDSTORMS® is expected.


A Technology Camp Specialist/Teacher teaches a minimum of 1 class but may also be considered to teach various programs at 1 or more locations.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Work daily in classrooms and cover multiple technology topics
  • Implement camp curriculum and organize/prepare daily lessons plans
  • Inspire campers to think creatively, critically, and innovatively
  • Empower campers to explore the world around them and solve real-life, practical issues
  • Impart your knowledge and expertise as an instructor, resource and guide
  • Lead campers in the learning process through the use of 21st century skills such as: innovation, creativity, communication, critical thinking, problem solving, ethical decision making, collaboration, teamwork, time management, empathy, and leadership
  • Use effective classroom management skills and create a fun environment where everyone feels included
  • Communicate effectively using clear, concise and grammatically correct written and oral language in all aspects of professional interaction with campers, families, peers and leadership 
  • Work effectively with fellow team members and collaborate on daily responsibilities
  • Provide oversight and instruction for your support counselors
  • Complete assigned paperwork
  • Serve as a positive role model to campers and counselors
  • Follow the ESF Code and maintain the ESF Look at all times
  • Exhibit ESF Core Values at all times and adhere to all company policies
  • Attend all required pre-camp trainings and submit necessary background check paperwork

Experience Requirements

  • Two, or more, years of classroom and/or camp experience (or comparable experience)
  • Previous experience using technology in a classroom Must have previous experience teaching children
  • The ability to quickly troubleshoot, and repair, simple PC/Technology problems and errors

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Teaching certification (preferred)

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to and takes direction from Major Camp leadership staff.  In addition, you may take direction from the Technology General Manager and other camp directors. May also take direction from, and is overall accountable to, the Site Director.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of 35lbs
  • Endurance to work outside and on your feet for 6-8 hours per day
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations which may require running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and climbing stairs.
  • Good physical condition which enables candidate to execute all responsibilities associated with this position
