  • Position Summary

    A Union Soccer School Coach is responsible for the supervision of campers, soccer-specific skill instruction, providing a safe, fun camp environment, and serving as a positive role model for campers. 

    Position Objective/Purpose

    We are seeking motivated team members who believe deeply in the organization’s mission and who display a record of achievement in effective supervision & management of youth as it pertains to this position. Candidates must be capable of teaching the fundamentals of soccer, building positive relationships and ensuring the safety and well-being of people of all ages.

    Position Scope Factors

    • Multiple locations in Pennsylvania
    • Some travel required (Examples include but are not limited to the following areas: Bryn Mawr, Ft. Washington, Malvern, Newtown Square, Plymouth Meeting)
    • Monday- Friday 7:45am- 3:45pm

    Essential Job Responsibilities

    1. Group supervision of campers with attention to: behavior and group management, health, safety, security, and personal and skill development
    2. Teach age-appropriate soccer skills and techniques in a progressive sequence to boys and girls ages 6 to 14
    3. Follow and execute ESF/Union Soccer Schools curriculum on a daily basis. In addition, create personalized session plans pertaining to the skill focus of the day
    4. Supervise campers during check-in/out process while recording times of arrival and dismissal on a daily basis
    5. Promote and oversee all camper activities
    6. Work effectively with other coaches and division specialists to collaborate on various responsibilities
    7. Coach, manage, or assist with all camp programs
    8. Maintain supervision during times of transition from one spot on campus to another, including snack and lunch breaks
    9. Complete assigned paperwork in a timely fashion in accordance with the standards of the Field Manager
    10. Assist in identifying and selecting award winners for our awards ceremony at the end of each week
    11. Serve as a positive role model to campers
    12. Maintain an attitude of professionalism while meeting Union players and coaches during Talen Energy Stadium field trips
    13. Follow the Union Code and maintain the Union Look at all times
    14. Exhibit ESF Core Values at all times and to adhere to all company policies
    15. Other responsibilities as assigned

    Experience Requirements

    1. Previous experience working with children, examples include but are not limited to; babysitting, academic/athletic tutoring, camp counselor, youth volunteer, classroom assistant, religious education teacher
    2. Experience playing soccer (high school or club level required; collegiate level preferred)
    3. Youth soccer coaching experience (preferred)
    4. Previous soccer camp coach experience (preferred)

    Certification Requirements

    1. 18 years of age
    2. High School Graduate pursuing college degree

    Other Skill Requirements

    1. Outstanding communication skills which include the ability to use clear, concise and grammatically correct written and oral language in all aspects of professional interaction with campers, their families, peers, leadership team and the larger community

    Reporting Relationships

    1. Reports directly to and takes direction from Field Manager and Operations Manager. May also take direction from and is overall accountable to the Regional Managing Director.  

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

    1. Ability to push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of 35Ibs
    1. Endurance to work outside and on your feet for 6-8 hours per day
    2. Ability to respond to emergency situations which may require running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and climbing stairs.
    3. Good physical condition which enables candidate to execute all responsibilities associated with this position
