  • Position Summary

    A PBA Nurse ensures the health and safety of all on-site campers, Team members and visitors; obtains and maintains health records and documents as required by ESF, state agencies and accreditation agencies; administers basic first aid and medications and responds to emergencies as necessary. 

    Position Objective/Purpose

    We are seeking motivated Team members who believe deeply in the organization’s mission and who display a record of achievement in nursing as it pertains to working with children and young adults.  This candidate must be capable of completing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the professional standards of ESF. This position is critical to daily camp operations and the overall success of the summer, as ESF’s number one priority is SAFETY.

    Position Scope Factors

    Nurse oversees health and safety for all campers (ages 4 – 16), Team members, and visitors.

    • Multiple locations in the following states: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware
    • Travel required every week
    • Must have active nursing license in the state in which you are employed and/or reciprocity in that state if your license is out-of-state.

    Essential Job Responsibilities

    1. Participate in all PBA Team Trainings as required, as well as pre-camp opening activities
    2. Collect and maintain health records of campers and Team members in accordance with PBA Policies
    3. Monitor, evaluate and follow appropriate PBA health and safety procedures and routines
    4. Monitor health of campers and Team members participating in camp activities
    5. Administer appropriate care in compliance with PBA Standards, Policies, Guidelines and Procedures Serve as a liaison between PBA Camps and parents/guardians and campers
    6. Understanding of, and ability to articulate and support, PBA Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
    7. Assist parents and Team members with medical and health questions
    8. Educate Team members on health and safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to,; basic first aid, Epi-Pen and rescue inhaler administration and serve as a resource for emergency response procedures
    9. Manage camp Nurse’s office/area; ensure the office/area is clean, organized, and well-maintained
    10. Maintain supply inventory; order as necessary
    11. Work effectively with co-workers as a team and collaborate on various responsibilities
    12. Serve as a positive role model to campers and Team members
    13. Follow the PBA Code and maintain the” PBA Look” at all times
    14. Exhibit PBA Core Values at all times and adhere to all Company Policies

    Experience Requirements

    1. Pediatric  nursing  experience preferred
    2. Proven success in  working with children and young adults with medical conditions, including but not limited to; food allergies, diabetes, seizure disorders
    3. Proven success in working with children and young adults with special needs and/or disabilities

    Certification Requirements

    1. Valid license as a professional Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
    2. First Aid Certification preferred
    3. Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred
    4. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred

    Education Requirements

    1. A certificate or diploma from an accredited nursing or training program [i.e. an associate’s degree in nursing (ADN), a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing (BSN) or a licensed practical nurse (LPN) certificate] is required

    Other Skill Requirements

    1. Outstanding communication skills which include the ability to use clear, concise and grammatically correct written and spoken language in all aspects of interactions with campers, their families, peers, leadership team and the community at large

    Reporting Relationships

    1. Reports directly to and takes direction from Field Manager and Operations Manager regarding daily camp operations.  
    2. Reports directly to and takes direction from Director of Nursing and Camp Medical Doctor regarding nursing practice.

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

    1. Ability to push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of 35Ibs
    1. Endurance to work outside, in varying temperatures and conditions,  and on your feet for up to 10 hours per day
    2. Ability to respond to emergency situations which may require running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and climbing stairs
    3. Good physical condition which enables candidate to execute all responsibilities associated with this position
