Position Summary

Responsible for developing all camp operations functions for Philadelphia Union Soccer Schools and Phillies Baseball Academy including brand awareness, executing brand expansion goals into new markets, grassroots marketing efforts, program management, and supply logistics. The position executes all hiring, retention, on-boarding, and training processes for summer staff. Additionally, this position supports the logistics, program, and personnel operations for on-site camp operations in the summer.

Position Objective/Purpose

To deliver high-quality and professional programs that support and reflect the mission of ESF, Union Soccer Schools, and Phillies Baseball Academy.

  • Number of Site School Relationships Managed: ~5-15
  • Number of Professional (Union) Relationships Managed: ~1-5
  • Number of Vendor Relationships Managed: ~5
  • Number of Hired Summer Talent for Camps: ~100
  • Number of Weeks that Summer Camps are in Operation: ~10

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and execute a project plan for Union Soccer Schools and Phillies Baseball Academy camps that includes logistical/operational/staffing/local marketing deliverables and program/curriculum enhancements
  • Manage and execute a brand expansion project plan; assist in grassroots marketing efforts that continue to increase brand awareness and new markets; have a presence at Phillies and Union games to promote camps
  • Develop resource tools, systems, processes and operational SOPs to ensure operational Excellence and sustainability of programs
  • Work as part of the Talent Operations team to source, attract, on-board, train, and retain talent for the Union Soccer Schools and Phillies Baseball Academy single sports camps using the full cycle recruiting and onboarding process
  • Provide leadership and support the execution of camp
  • Be accountable for accurate weekly payroll submission to Finance department for camp staff
  • Create and provide project status reports upon request
  • Other responsibilities that may be assigned

Non-essential Job Responsibilities

• Attend relevant industry trade shows, site school (venue) networking events, league events, and other promotional opportunities
• Participate in career fairs to source and attract talent
• Participate in continuing self-development and training sessions
• This position may require leading/teaching some afterschool soccer or baseball clinics in order to promote summer camps
• Periodically participate in camp sales phone call campaigns to drive sales and explain promotions

Experience Requirements

  • Proven ability to deliver timely, high-quality outcomes and results
  • Minimum 4 years of advanced sports playing and/or coaching experience
  • Knowledge of soccer and baseball industries
  • Experience working at a Sports Camp
  • Coach recruiting experience (preferred)

Education Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or the equivalent in work experience
  • Sports Management or Business Administration Degree (preferred)

Other Skill Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 

Reporting Relationships

  • Position reports directly to Head of Single Sports Operations for all operational functions and to Chief Talent Officer for all recruiting, hiring, and training functions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Minimum 40 hours per week during non-peak season; minimum 60 hours per week during peak season
  • Local and Distance Travel is required
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk long distances
