  • Position Summary

    ESF Camps is seeking an experienced Controller with a strong background in all aspects of accounting and financial disciplines for a growing organization. This is a very hands-on role that provides strategic insight and analysis to drive the future financial success of the business, while also supporting operations in several key risk management and compliance areas.

     

    The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit combined with a successful track record of helping a growing company develop processes and procedures while developing  more sophisticated accounting and financial tools  to support  key data needs (financial and non-financial).

    Essential Job Responsibilities

    • Assist CFO in overseeing and managing the entire finance and accounting function
    • Manage all accounting and financial functions for the organization, including:
      • Accounting and reporting in accordance with GAAP
      • Monthly, quarterly and annual financial close
      • Accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll oversight
      • General ledger and chart of accounts
    • Direct and lead the financial planning and budget process across the entire business
    • Provide and oversee weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, analysis, budgeting and forecasting
    • Prepare weekly and monthly accounting and financial reports for management
    • Assist with payroll and benefits administration
    • Work with CFO to establish and maintain strong business controls
    • Assess, review and document key processes and procedures identifying key gaps.
    • Collaborate with finance and operations to mitigate gaps
    • Enhance and/or define reporting requirements to support business operations
    • Provide management team with insightful decision support and ad hoc financial analysis
    • Perform key duties associated with risk management and compliance including:
      • Insurance compliance and alignment with contract commitments
      • Site permitting compliance
      • Workman’s compensation management
    • Perform the role of a trusted business analyst to support other organization leaders in growing and scaling the business
    • Develop and maintain key financial and non-financial metrics to measure results and business progress
    • Exhibit a fine balance of controls, strategy, planning and metric management
    • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions
    • Develop direct reports to grow and scale the business

    • Should have a good understanding of processes and procedures with experience in developing and documenting both existing processes and new processes

    Experience Requirements

    • 7+ years of progressive finance and management experience
    • Proven track record of effectively managing and developing a high performance team to grow and scale with the business
    • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and analysis experience required
    • Proficient at designing and completing research to forecast revenue and cost
    • Experience with QuickBooks - enterprise version a must
    • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, Outlook and PowerPoint
    • Experience with various payroll systems
    • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including business writing
    • Ability to learn new tasks quickly and accurately
    • Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities
    • Proven track record of consistently producing accurate results within restricted time constraints

    Education Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field

    Reporting Relationships

    • Reports directly to the CFO 

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

    • Year-round position
    • Minimum 40 hours per week during non-peak season; minimum 45-50 hours per week during peak season
    • Requires extended periods of time at a computer workstation
    • Some occasional distance travel required, especially to ESF camp sites and events
