  • Position Summary

    A Union Soccer Schools Division Specialist is responsible for the supervision of campers and Team members within their Division. They assist in monitoring the organization, supervision, implementation and administration of all activities and schedules.

    Position Objective/Purpose

    We are seeking motivated team members who believe deeply in the organization’s mission and who display a record of achievement in effective supervision & management of Team members and campers. The candidate must be capable of building positive relationships, providing top-notch customer service and ensuring the safety and well-being of people of all ages. This position will require the candidate to complete multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the professional standards of ESF.

    Position Scope Factors

    • Union Division Specialists are hired in the following age groups;

      La Liga: ages 6 -7
      Serie A: ages 8 – 9
      Premier: ages 10 – 11
      MLS: ages 12 – 14


    • Some travel required.

    Essential Job Responsibilities

    • Within their assigned Division (La Liga, Serie A, Premier, MLS), ensure the Union Daily/Weekly Schedule is completely followed including all safety and security policies and camp traditions outlined in trainings and the Union Soccer Schools Components Book
    • By utilizing the Union Curriculum, prepare, organize and facilitate daily soccer skill instruction within their assigned Division (La Liga, Serie A, Premier, MLS)
    • Assist in preparing Team Coaches to successfully facilitate instructional stations
    • Teach soccer skills to campers and monitor Team Coaches as they teach the skills and fundamentals of soccer
    • Assign and prepare Team Coaches to instructional stations during skill development
    • Serve as a positive role model to campers and Team Coaches
    • Conduct Team Meetings
    • Make sure the coaches are conducting head counts always
    • Assist and support the Field/Operations Manager in any camp operation or activity 
    • Identify and meet camper needs ages 6-14
    • Conduct tours of the camp facilities and program areas to prospective camp families when applicable
    • Oversee sign-in and sign-out of all campers 
    • Through a hands on approach, instruct and mentor Team Coaches assigned within their Division
    • Model behavior & group management strategies for Team Coaches
    • Record and maintain a log of all daily activities and observations
    • Monitor the organization, supervision, and administration of all field trips
    • Group supervision of campers with attention to: behavior and group management, health and safety, security, and personal and skill development
    • Provide input and assist in conducting evaluations of Team Coaches
    • Follow the Union Code and maintain the Union Look at all times

    Experience Requirements

    • Previous experience working with children in a supervisory or administrative capacity
    • Performance management and facilitation experience (preferred)
    • Professional (MLS affiliate, WPS affiliate or USL Pro Leagues), collegiate or high school soccer coaching experience (preferred)
    • Former soccer playing experience (required)
      • Professional soccer player (MLS affiliate, WPS affiliate or USL Pro Leagues)
      • Collegiate player (Division I, II or III, NAIA, JUCO)
      • Varsity High School player
    • 1 – 3 years administrative/leadership experience (required)
    • Staff supervision experience (required)
    • Youth coaching experience (required)

    Certification Requirements

    • First Aid/CPR (preferred)

    Education Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree

    Other Skill Requirements

    • Outstanding communication skills which include the ability to use clear, concise and grammatically correct written and oral language in all aspects of professional interaction with campers, their families, peers, leadership team and the larger community

    Reporting Relationships

    • Reports directly to and takes direction from Field/Operations Manager.

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

    • Push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds across campus
    • Work outside, upright and mobile for six (6) to eight (8) hours per day
    • Respond to emergency situations which may include running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and ascending stairs without undue exertion
    • Possess physical capacity to fulfill all essential job functions – responsibilities listed above
